What is PPWR?

PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) is the EU’s new regulation for packaging and packaging waste. It replaces the previous Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD) and introduces common rules for packaging across the EU. The purpose of PPWR is to reduce the amount of packaging waste and promote more sustainable and circular packaging solutions through increased recycling, reuse, and more efficient use of resources.

Unlike a directive, a regulation applies directly in all EU countries, creating common conditions for companies operating in the European market.
