Packaging products are more than just a piece of protective covering. They are carriers of information that can essentially be read anywhere at all in the distribution chain. Detailed control, logistics, ID requirements and knowledge of the content are all driving the development of traceability.
The technology already exists to integrate the information in the packaging, in both primary and secondary packaging items. At Boxon we have refined it.
Marking nowadays must be able to answer so many questions that it is difficult to overlook everything. Who packed the box and when? What does it contain? Where is it now? When will it get there? Who is allowed to open it? Labels have become intelligent information carriers, codes communicate with business systems. Pallets, goods, products and individual items, they all have something to say. Information has to reach the right person in an organisation, but it must not be read by anyone else.
